Lighthouse Community Church (LCC) Nikiski, Alaska The church called Denver & Debbie Copeland on December 20, 1996. Under his leadership, the following has been accomplished: 1997 New sound system was installed in church, larger sign and reader board installed, handicap ramp built, parking lot expanded to twice the size. 1998 Trees to the south of building were cleared, circular driveway added, parking lot again doubled in size. 1999 Approximately 4,500 sq ft education building was built, new outside lighting installed on church, Community Appreciation Day held which fed over 500 people. 2000 Original church building was totally remodeled, upstairs and downstairs, new entryway built with covered drive through, front of sanctuary extended and stage built. 2001 A 420 sq ft storage area was built; 125 sq ft lower floor entryway was added between buildings. 2002 Parsonage built (2,800 sq. ft. with 1,200 sq. ft. garage), 15X12' bedroom added to the youth pastor's apartment. 2003 Shower trailer built, consisting of 8 stalls and its own boiler system, also built 16 sq ft storage building. Preschool opened, August, 2003. Ginnie Handley, Preschool Administrator. Purchased 10 acres adjacent to church property. 2004 Added additional 1500 sq ft education space to building that was built in 1999, built a 3400 sq ft administration/youth building with 1,000 sq ft youth pastor's apartment, Elementary School added to existing Preschool, and added a mobile laundry facility. 2005 Back of sanctuary extended 12' and a handicap restroom, cry room, and sound room added at the entry. Recreation area consisting of softball/baseball field, volleyball court, basketball court, soccer/football field, picnic area, and two horse shoe pits (½ mile walking track will be added in 2006). (We feel that it may take up to 2 years to finish the recreation area and hope that within the next 5 years we will be able to build a full-size gymnasium for community use.) 2006 Work teams built a house for the pastor Denver's family and pastor Randy moved into the parsonage in mid Aug. 2006. During the summer we conducted 5 sports camps and had 110 children in VBS. Since the beginning of the church, Backyard Bible Clubs/VBS have been conducted annually. 2006 year was the 5th year of World Changers in the Nikiski area. This is the 7th year that our church has been involved in the breakfast program and second year for Good News Club at the elementary schools in Nikiski. Over 65 work teams have helped in all that God has accomplished above. |
